Guide

We worry about guides who know exactly what they want to do with their lives. And we worry about guides who have no idea what they want to do with their lives. We’re not worried about Mia.

She knows that she wants to do a lot of different things in her life. Exactly. Four or five careers in different fields to be precise. All over the world to be specific. Maybe environmental science (her major in college), then botany (her current hobby), then sustainable design (her true passion), then art (her hidden talent). Maybe in Salt Lake City (her current residence), then Costa Rica (her favorite place so far), then Antarctica (on the bucket list), then New Zealand (obviously).

The only constant? The river, but even that, she says, is different every time.

More About

Piña coladas… and getting caught in the rain.
Steak!
Box Elder 3 on the Yampa on a full moon. The canyon walls are breathtaking.
Stiff- it talks about all these weird and unexpected things that happen and have happened to corpses throughout history. It’s not as creepy as it sounds.
An armadillo! Did you know they can crawl along the bottom of a river, holding their breath for up to 6 minutes or inflate their stomach to float? That’s right. They also have poor sight with short legs but can move pretty fast.
Put your Paco under your tent.
Sass. And weird animal facts. Did you know that vultures are a keystone species, and they defecate on themselves when they feel threatened?
JAX BEACH! (Florida- don’t judge me) largest city in Florida. DUUUUUVAAAALLLL. (Ok, you can judge that, I’m not proud).
