DEANNA KAVANAUGH-JONES
Many of our guides are clowns; only one has formal training. Deanna spent five of her childhood summers at Camp Winnarainbow, a circus school founded by the legendary Wavy Gravy, where she learned how to juggle, tight-rope walk, make balloon animals and drive those ridiculously small cars. But most of all, she learned how to make people smile, a skill that she has put to use in acting (she played Touchstone, the court fool in her high school production of As You Like It), politics (she was External Vice President of Local Affairs at UCSB), and guiding (her boat is always full of happy kids, young and old alike). Since she isn't ready to abandon her dream of joining the circus, she is earning her teaching credential so that she can do the next closest thing: teach high school.
