BEN WARTBURG
Ben has credibility problems. His kayaking feats are so far beyond our grasp that we have a hard time believing them. His stories of "90 footers" (as in waterfalls), "loops" (as in airborne somersaults), and "first d's" (as in descents), are interrupted by skeptical looks and punctuated with his trademark expression: "No, I'm serious, dude!" Tired of our suspicion, he showed up last summer with a video full of his jaw-dropping stunts which quieted us cynics. He now has sanity problems, (as in "You're crazy, dude"). Between kayaking exploits, he attends classes at Humboldt State University, working towards a degree in Education, (as in "summers off").
